Tour Itinerary

  • Day 1 — Arrival in Arusha or Moshi

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi (Ilboru Safari Lodge). Rest and recover from your journey, enjoy views of Kilimanjaro if weather permits, and meet your lead guide for a pre-climb briefing and equipment check to prepare for the trek.

    • Day 2 — Arusha - Lemosho Gate - Mti Mkubwa Camp

    Drive from Arusha or Moshi to Lemosho Gate (2,100 m), then begin the trek through pristine montane rainforest. Hike 6 km in 3–4 hours, spotting colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, antelopes, and diverse birds, while enjoying ancient moss-draped trees and magical forest scenery. Arrive at Miti Mkubwa Camp (2,750 m) for rest, snacks, and a hot dinner.

      Trek 8 km (5 miles) from Miti Mkubwa (2,750 m) through the forest as it gradually opens into heath and moorland. Enjoy your first panoramic views of Kibo and Mawenzi Peaks, passing giant heathers, tussock grasses, groundsels, and lobelias unique to Kilimanjaro. Arrive at Shira 1 Camp (3,500 m) for rest, acclimatization, and dinner while taking in spectacular sunset views across the plateau.

Take a side hike to Shira Cathedral for photos and acclimatization, while enjoying panoramic views of Kibo and Shira Ridge. Arrive at Shira 2 Camp to rest, hydrate, and prepare for the next stage of the ascent.

          Trek 12 km (7.5 miles) from Shira 2 (3,500 m) through moorland into alpine desert, passing striking lava formations and hardy alpine vegetation. Ascend Lava Tower (4,600 m) for acclimatization, panoramic views, and photos, then descend to Barranco Camp (3,960 m). End the day with the adventure of the Barranco Wall, a manageable climb offering spectacular vistas.

The moderate hike allows for acclimatization and energy conservation, with stunning views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks along the way. Arrive at camp to rest, hydrate, and prepare for the summit push.

              Begin with a steady climb from Karanga Camp (4,100 m) to Barafu Camp (4,600 m). After a short rest and early dinner, embark on the midnight summit push to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) under starlit skies. Celebrate sunrise at Africa’s highest point, then descend via Barafu to Mweka Camp (3,950 m). This long day combines physical challenge, spectacular scenery, and the ultimate Kilimanjaro achievement, fully supported by your guides.
